TIP REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL BELTS* (Except Mighty Mites. Mighty Mite Parents see "Mighty Mites Program: WHT thru YEL Belt Requirements".)
THIS IS A GENERAL EXPLANATION OF TIP TESTING. FOR REQIREMENTS SPECIFIC TO EACH BELT, PLEASE SEE THE APPROPRIATE COLOR BELT RANK REQUIREMENTS.
FIRST TIP: Kicks, Punches & Sparring Combinations
SECOND TIP: Memory Work
THIRD TIP: Self-Defense
FOURTH TIP: Forms, Forms' Basics & Weapons (if required)
Tip Tests will be informal and during regular class time. There is no charge for tip testing. White Belts may be tip tested at any time the INSTRUCTOR feels they ready.
Students, Yellow Belt & above, will be tip tested at designated times during the month (See the Studio Calendar each month.) These students will be allowed to tip test only once each month, please. The instructors are not usually looking for "perfection" during tip tests. If the student is not close enough to where the instructor feels he/she should be to pass the test, the student will probably need the few weeks until the next scheduled opportunity to study or practice. Don't be in a "rush". The making of Diamonds and Blackbelts take time. (By the same token, do not look to tip test at the first tip testing, usually within a week or two, after receiving a new belt. If the first Tip Test is more than 3 weeks after the passed rank test, the instructor may allow it. EXCEPTION - Since we now have our formal Rank Test every other month, we will allow Yellow Belts, who wish to test at the first tip testing after receiving their new belt, to do so.)
PLEASE DO NOT ASK INSTRUCTORS TO TIP TEST...unless there is some extreme difficulty or challenge. In that case, a Private Lesson (a fairly inexpensive 1/2 hour) can be scheduled in which to do a Tip Test.
